Winged Sphere Gone From Dome. Former students visiting the University will miss from the campus what since the building of Academic Hall has been one of the institution's distinctive marks-the winged sphere surmounting the dome. One of the wings was broken off recently when in the night an over enthusiastic patriot fastened the staff of a large American flag to the topmost part of the dome. A plain golden ball without the wings now forms the highest part of the University structure. The winged sphere is symbolical of truth and eternity and because of its conspicuous usage in the architecture of the University has come to have a place among the emblems of the school's organizations.
