the project The Rothwell-Brewer Project, is the largest recreation project in the history of Missouri higher educa-
tion and one of the top five projects in the country.

the funding As approved by the students of the University of Missouri by referendum in October of 2001, a fee of
an additional $75/semester was confirmed for the construction and renovation of the Rothwell-
Brewer-Student Rec Center complex

project and facility history Rothwell Gymnasium was opened in 1905 with additions in 1939 and 1959. Brewer Fieldhouse was
opened in 1929 with the rec center addition completed in 1989. The completion of The Brewer
Project 2005 will coincide with the centennial year of Rothwell Gymnasium. Architectural features
from Rothwell Gymnasium will be incorporated in the new design whenever possible. New uses for
the original doors, floors and ceiling have been considered and included in the project. Rothwell
Gymnasium and Brewer Fieldhouse were the original homes for the Mizzou Tigers.

The Brewer Project will yield 293,000 gross square feet (115,000 gross square feet of new construction.)
it will be one of the top ten largest higher education recreation facilities in the nation.
