Louise Stanley Hall at M.U. To Be Dedicated on March 24 Three speakers will participate in ceremonies at the University of Missouri March 24 during dedication of $500,000 Louise Stanley Hall, the new home economics addition. The building is named for the home economics faculty member from 1907 to 1923 who became the first director of the federal Bureau of Home Economics from 1923 to 1943. The program, planned at 2 p.m. in Jesse Auditorium, will feature Gov. John M. Dalton; Dr. James H. Hilton, president of Iowa State University, and Dr. Hazel K. Steibeling, director of the federal Institute of Home Economics, as speakers. On the evening before the dedication, a dinner will be held with Dr. A. June Bricker, executive secretary of the American Home Economics Association, as speaker. And a luncheon on dedication day, five graduates in home economics who attained national recognition will receive distinguished service awards from President Elmer Ellis. The award will go to Miss Jesse Alice Cline, native of Savannah, Mo., and a former professor here who is owner-manager of restaurants in Chicago and Kansas City and is a director of the National Restaurant Association; Dr. Sylvia Cover, native of Tunnell Hill, Ill., professor of foods and nutrition research in the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station; Dr. Hazel M. Hatcher, native of Chillicothe, professor of home economics education and home community relationship at Pennsylvania State University; Mrs. Ophelia Robinson Shepard, native of Hallsville, former home demonstration agent in Platte County and an officer for 29 years in the Missouri Home Economics Association; and Dr. Suzanne Davison, native of Jefferson City, professor of home economics at the University of Minnesota. The new building is connected to Gwynn Hall, the old home economics building, and virtually doubles space available for the school.
