Building to Be Named After Curators Honor Ceremony to Be Held Saturday in Memorial Union Wednesday, November 19, 1958 Four new buildings serving University students are to be formally named in honor of four prominent men formerly connected with the University at ceremonies to be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Student Union, President Elmer Ellis of the University announced today. The buildings are the Nurses Residence in the Medical Center groups and two residence halls and a dining hall-cafeteria for men in the North Residence Group on South Sixth street. The men to be honored are: The late Powell B. McHaney, St. Louis, a member of the Board of Curators form 1931 until his death in 1943 and for the last 10 years of that period board president. Former state Sen. Allen McReynolds, Carthage, from 1945 to 1951 a member for the Board of Curators, including five years as president of the board. The late Isidor Loeb, who served between 1895 to 1925 on the faculty and in administrative posts, including those of dean of the University faculty (1910- 16), acting president (1923), and dean of the School of Business and Public Administration at Washington University. The Nurses’ Residence is to be named Powell Bassett McHaney Hall; North Residence Hall A, the southernmost building of the new residence hall groups, will be Frank Mitchell McDavid Hall; the northernmost building, Residence Hall B, will be named Isidor Loeb Dining Hall. Dr. Ellis will provide at the short ceremony Saturday, to be held in the small ballroom of the Union. A brief talk on Mr. McHaney will be given by James A. Finch Jr., Cape Girardeau, president of the Board of Curators; on Mr. McDavid by James A. Potter, Jefferson City, also a former member of the Board of Curators; on Mr. McReynolds by Dr. Frederick A. Middlebush, president emeritus of the University and director of the University Foundation; and on Dr. Loeb by Dean William L. Bradshaw of the School of Business and Public Administration. The ceremony will be open to the public, and members of the families of the men to be honored have been especially invited to attend. Among those who have indicated they will be present are Mrs. Frank Mitchell McDavid, Springfield; Mrs. George Rozier, Jefferson City, daughter of Mr. McReynolds, with her husband and their two sons; Mrs. Powell B. McHaney, St. Louis, and member of her family; and tow daughters of Dr. Loeb, Mrs. Perome Barker and Mrs. William Wallbrunn, both of St. Louis, with their husbands. Bronze plaques with the names of the buildings are to be placed on the structures in the near future. Allen McReynolds and Dr. Isidor Loeb. A native of Illinois, McDavid practiced law in Springfield, MO. He served on the Board of Curators form 1921 to 1943, the last 10 years as its president. Sen. McReynolds was on the University Curators as well as that of Stephens College. As president on the University board he was instrumental in the building of a four-year school of Medicine. Dr. Loeb, who came to the University as a tutor in history in 1892, was dean of faculty of Business and Public Administration from 1916 to 1925.
