For the Love of Mizzou For Donald W. Reynolds, BJ ’27, MU holds special memories like the time he was crowned King of campus, working as business manager of the 1926 Savitar, and developing lifetime friendships and journalistic expertise. A charter member of the Jefferson Club, Reynolds’s support of Mizzou has been on-going throughout the years as he created the Donrey Media Group, one of America’s largest media enterprises. When the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation gave $9 million to MU, Reynolds wanted this gift to be a catalyst that would bring alumni back to campus and encourage them to support their university. The 71,000 square-foot Donald W. Reynolds Alumni and Visitor center, which was dedicated April 10, has done just that. Since the announcement of the Reynolds’ donation, the largest in MU’s history, more than $125 million in private funds have been raised to help students, faculty, libraries and programs across campus, says Roger Gafke, BJ ’61, MA ’62, vice chancellor for development, university and alumni relations. The home of the University Club, the building is a meeting place for faculty and staff, and the conference and reception rooms draw alumni and friends to campus. The center also houses the MU Alumni Association, the development offices, and the Missouri Alumnus staff. “And as the visitor center for the campus, this building will play a role beyond the value of Mr. Reynolds’ generous gift,” Gafke said. Next time you visit campus, make an appointment to meet a member of the development staff on the third floor of Donald W. Reynolds Alumni and Visitor Center.
