The Parker Memorial Hospital, to be erected on the campus of the University of the State of Missouri, at Columbia, was made possible by the munificent donation of $15,000 given by William L. Parker, of Columbia, in whose honor the structure is nam- ed. This gift was supplemented by an appropriation of $10,000 from the Fortieth General Assembly of Missouri. The corner-stone of the new building was laid with appropriate ceremony by Dr. C. H. Briggs, Grand Master and other Grand Officers of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Missouri, on Tuesday [illegible] hospital is to be managed and controlled by [illegible] Board of Curators of the State University for the benefit of [illegible] institution particularly its medical department. The architect of the building is Thomas Nolan, professor of architecture in the University of Missouri. B. F. Stewart & Sons, of Columbia, have the contract for its construction. The committee having in charge the erection of the building consists of Walter Williams, chairman; J. C. Babb, secretary; Dr. R. H. Jesse, Dr. Woodson Moss, Dr. A. W. McAlester, Dr. M. D. Lewis and William A. Bright. The last three named representing Mr. Parker and the others the University. It is expected that the building will be ready for occupancy, June 1, 1900.
