Edina, Mo., May 12, 1900. R. H. Jesse, Columbia, Mo. My Dear Doctor :- I see by the papers that it is proposed to name the new clinic in the University Hospital, "The Adolphus Busch" clinic, for the reason that Mr. Busch has given $5,000.00 toward the building of it. As an old student and an alumnus of the University I wish to raise my voice in protest against this. Mr. Busch is famous for one thing, and one thing only, and that is the manufacture of beer. I do not regard this as a praiseworthy avocation and do not think that the Schools of this great State should be placed in the attitude of giving honor to any such bus- iness. I think that the stain that would thus be placed upon the name of the University, and the undesirable talk which it would occasion can be compensated for with any paltry $5000.00, or any other amount of money. I hope that the name proposed will not be adopted, and I trust that you, as a Christian gentleman, will use your influence against it. With best wishes for M.S.U., I am, Yours Very Truly, H. T. Botts Law 93.
