This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri University Relations Office. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence, photographs, news releases, speeches, and press clippings. These records provide information on former members of the University of Missouri System Board of Curators, as well as presidents and vice-presidents of various administrative divisions. Also included are files relating to University System President C.P. Magrath from 1985-1991.

Series Descriptions:

This Sub-Group is divided into two records series. Arrangement is alphabetical, by the name of the individual, except in the case of presidential records, which are arranged in chronological order. Series One includes thirty-one file folders containing records generated by the Office of University Relations for former Board of Curator members, vice-presidents, provosts, presidents, and administrators (1972-1991).
Series Two includes folders containing records generated by the Office of University Relations for former University System President C. Peter Magrath (1985-1991). File types relate to various topics. Topics include university funding problems, long range planning, and the issue of raises for the faculty. Also included is a folder about Magrath's second wife, Diane Skomars Magrath, which contains, among other things, information related to the contractual agreement between the two stating that she would be compensated as an employee for serving as the wife of the President.

FF 5 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the former Provost Gerald Brouder of Columbia, Missouri. The records include press clippings regarding his selection and resignation as Provost of the University of Missouri and several resumes, 1991-1994.

FF 6 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the Board of Curators former member and president, Daniel Brenner of Kansas City, Missouri. The records include press clippings, biographies, personal and administrative correspondence, speech transcripts, photographs, and negatives, 1981.

FF 7 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the Board of Curators former member John Dalton of Kennett, Missouri. The records include press clippings, photographs and negatives, written remarks, and administrative correspondence, 1974-1977.

FF 8 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the Board of Curators former member and vice-president Robert Dempster of Sikeston, Missouri. The records include photographs and negatives, biographies, correspondence, and written remarks. the bulk of this folder, however, consists of news clippings detailing the controversies surrounding Dempster's term on the Board of Curators, 1977-1983.

FF 9 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the Board of Curators former member and president William Doak of Vandalia, Missouri. The records include press clippings, photographs and negatives, written remarks, biographies, and administrative correspondence, 1982.

FF 10 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the Board of Curators former student representative Kevin Edwards of Rolla, Missouri. The records include photographs, press clippings, and a receipt for a plaque commemorating his retirement from the Board in 1988.

FF 11 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the Board of Curators former member and president Jeanne V. Epple of Columbia, Missouri. The records include resumes, transcripts of speeches, press clippings, photographs, negatives, and administrative correspondence, 1982-1989.

FF 12 - This file folder contains records pertaining to the Board of Curators former member Carrie Francke of Columbia, Missouri. The records consist of press clippings regarding her appointment to the Board and her subsequent death in an automobile accident in 1989.

FF 14 - This file folder contains records generated by the Office of University Relations pertaining to former system treasurer Donald S. Holm of Columbia, Missouri. The records include press clippings, news releases, and several resumes, 1970-1984.

FF 22 - This file folder contains records generated by the Office of University Relations pertaining to former president C. Brice Ratchford. The records consist of press clippings detailing lobbying irregularities leading to his resignation in 1976.

FF 23 - This file folder contains records pertaining to former President C. Brice Ratchford. The records include news releases, correspondence, biographies, letters of resignation, statements of objectives for his presidency, plans for public service announcements for statewide radio outlets, meeting minutes, speech transcripts, photographs, and negatives, 1972-1976.
