Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Deans' Offices. Most of these records were created by Associate Deans Homer C. Folks, Kenneth L. Larson, Richard J. Aldrich, and Walter Wilkening. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence files, news releases, program reports, bulletins, pamphlets, photographs, questionnaires, Resident Instruction files, Graduate Institute for Cooperative Leadership Board meeting minutes, annual reports, promotion and tenure files, undergraduate research proposals, meeting minutes, faculty research materials, records of the College of Agriculture's "India Program," and Scholarship Committee meeting minutes. Other records in this Sub-Group pertain to the Harrold Poultry Achievement Awards, National Merit Scholar Awards, Production Credit Scholar Scholarships, Sears-Wudack Scholarships, graduate student projects, agricultural field trips, prospective donors, student consultants, and Agicultural Alumni records.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:3/3/1
This Series contains administrative records of the UMC College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Dean's Office, (1945-1967). This Series contains the correspondence and other material produced by or relevant to the work of Homer C. Folks, Associate Dean primarily from 1963-1966. Contained in the Series are correspondence, news releases, programs, reports, bulletins, pamphlets, photographs, questionnaires, newsletters, minutes, etc., on topics such as: various state, national, and college agriculture programs, agriculture organizations, special College of Agriculture events, foreign students and professors, lectureships, student recruitment, enrollment and retention, publicity for the College, University and College of Agriculture committees, curricula, scholarships and awards, research, legislation relevant to the College of Agriculture, departmental concerns, Extension Division, short courses and programs, Graduate School, various farm organizations, 4-H, Future Farmers of American (FFA) and other youth farm related programs, honors programs, relations with junior colleges, studies done by and of the College, Missouri State Fair, government science agencies and grants, publications, Peace Corps, placement, ROTC, student organizations, alumni, non-degree programs, and vocational agriculture.

Series 2. - C:3/3/3 (A85-86)
This Series contains records of the UMC College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Dean's Office relating to Associate Dean of Research, Richard J. Aldrich (1975-1976). Included in this Series are files of correspondence between Aldrich and the Subcommittee on Science, Research, and Technology of the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Also included in this series are copies of a U. S. House of Representatives report entitled, Agricultural Research and Development (1975) and a transcript entitled, "Hearings before the Sub-Committee on Science, Research and Technology and the Sub-Committee on Domestic and International Scientific Planning and Analysis of the Committee on Science and Technology U. S. House of Representatives" (1975).

Series 3. - C:3/3/2
This Series contains administrative records of the UMC College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Dean's Office (1960-1963). This Series contains records of the audited rupee budget for aid contract for India. Included in this Series are vouchers for purchases, listings of expenses, travel itineraries, travel authorizations, receipts, correspondence, etc., regarding expenses incurred by the Chief of Party for College of Agriculture's AID Mission to India.

This Series contains administrative records of the UMC College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Dean's Office, relating to current and discontinued scholarship programs (1944-1986). Included in this Series are correspondence files and other records relating to the establishment and maintenance of such scholarship and award programs as the Harrold Poultry Achievement Awards, Production Credit Scholarships, Sears-Wurdack Scholarships, and National Merit Scholarships. Also included are Scholarship Committee work papers, and records pertaining to College of Agriculture field trips, prospective donors, graduate student projects, and student consultants.

Series 5. - C:3/3/4 (A86-54; A89-67)
This Series contains administrative records of the UMC College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Dean's Office (1955-1972). This Series contains copies of annual, semi-annual, and terminal reports of the UMC College of Agriculture Technical Cooperation Mission team in India. UMC had responsibilities in Region III, including Bihar, Orissa, and Assam, where the team assisted the government of India in setting up agricultural and technical universities. Individual team members' folders include End of Tour/Terminal reports and may also contain monthly status reports, reports from CUSURDI (Council of U.S. Universities for Rural Development in India). Contracts reported in collection include: USAID/nesa-434, USAID/nesa-144, USAID/nesa-320, USAID/nesa-321, USAID/csd-840.

Series 6 - C:3/3/5 (A85-80; A95-34)
This Series contains administrative records of the UMC College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Dean's Office (1946-1984). This Series contains files of Homer C. Folks and Kenneth L. Larson covering the following topics: annual reports, promotion and tenure materials [Restricted], undergraduate research proposals, administration of departments, courses offered, field trips, field days, cooperation with other institutions of learning and student exchange programs, management of buildings and facilities, budget, etc. Especial interesting are the handwritten meeting minutes ledgers of the Independent Agriculture Club (1946-1966), and other materials relating to their activities and materials concerning Gamma Sigma Delta (1959-1982).

This Series contains administrative records of the UMC College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Associate Dean's Office (1957-1972). This Series contains India Program records. The India Program is an educational exchange program designed to facilitate the creation of a Land-Grant University in India. The ORISSA University was the result of this program. Many materials in the collection are from the last head of the program, Walter Wilkening.

The records consist of meeting minutes of the Policy Committee, (1990-2002), and of the Course and Curricula Committee, (1991-1999). The Series also includes course syllabi and curriculum change forms, (1974, 1985-1995).

Series 12. - C:3/3/11 (A09-59; A10-01; A13-83)
This Series contains administrative records of the Office of Alumni Relations in Academic Programs division of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, (ca. 1983-2012). The records consist of the following types and topics: correspondence, memoranda, brochures, application forms, Agriculture Alumni awards (including True Tiger, Citation of Merit, and Honorary Alumni) and scholarships, and Agriculture Alumni Association events (including Ag Unlimited, Ag Week, and the Ag Tiger Classic golf tournament). This Series also contains a records from the Ag Student Council, (1983-1992), and from the Career Development and Placement Office in the College, an office headed by Dana Brown-Haynes prior to her director position in Alumni Relations.
