This Record Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia's Office of the Dean of Students. The majority of these records were created or retained and organized by Dean of Students, Jack Matthews. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence, reports, news releases, newspaper clippings, meeting agendas and minutes, brochures and pamphlets, handwritten notes, event programs, directories of student organizations, publications by Winterton C. Curtis, memorabilia from Mary McKee, audio cassette tapes, and photographs. Topics within the Sub-Group includes staff appointments, student protests (with photographs), underground newspapers, student discipline, destruction of old disciplinary files, Students for a Democratic Society (S.D.S.), the Papish and Rollins court cases, confidentiality of records, alumni activities, relocation of the Jefferson Monument, resignation of University of Missouri-Columbia Chancellor John W. Schwada, and the history of student organizations (such as the Independents, Mystical Seven, and LSV). Also within this Sub-Group are records pertaining to the Physical Education Department, the dedication of Faurot Field, fraternities and sororities, foreign students, the Student Union Board, and use of University of Missouri facilities.
