Scope and Content Note:

This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC) Campus Computing Services. This Office changed to Information and Access Techonology Services, IATS, in January 1998. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence, administrative records, alumni records, personnel records, appropriations records, budget materials, and project reports.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:1/28/NP (A86-96)
This Series contains records of the UMC Office of Campus Computing Services, pertaining to the Academic Computing Center, (1979-1980). Included in this Series are administrative records and correspondence. Subjects include the "Carrars Project," the system introduction, personnel matters, "Centrex," and Alumni matters.

Series 2. - C:1/28/NP (A87-37; A90-33; A93-30)
This Series contains records of the UMC Office of Campus Computing Services, (1973-1987). Included in this Series are correspondence files (much with the Chancellor's Office), direct appropriations records, project reports, 1982-1983 budget materials, and planning, purchase, and implementation documentation for some of the earliest data processing and computing systems on the MU campus, beginning around 1973. Other materials include memoranda, reports, bid and system design documents, procedure manuals, computing services, systems documents, hardware budget reports, and proposals, meeting minutes and agendas from campus and system committees working on various automation projects. Among the computer systems designed from the period 1973-1983 were systems for student loans, student record and admissions systems, university police, MU administration, and student services (dining and housing) systems. Also included are some correspondence files pertaining to Mary Stampley.

Restrictions Note: The University of Missouri-Columbia Archives is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files.
