Scope and Content Note

This Record Sub-Group contains photographic prints, negatives, promotional films, original artwork, and related documents and memorabilia. Many of these items were generated, created, or sponsored by the University of Missouri Alumni Association.

This Series has been enlarged to a full inventory. Please follow this link to reach the inventory. This former Series contains photographs, glass plate negatives, and photographic negatives documenting many events, buildings, faculty members and administrators (ca. 1886-1910, 1950-1966).

Series 2 - C:0/3/11 (A94-120)
This Series contains photographs of the Reynolds Alumni Center and Turner Street Parking Garage locations (1987); a Columbia Missourian front page with autographs of MU's 1982 men's basketball team (01/26/1982); a photograph collage from the Columbia Missourian depicting the UMC's men's basketball team (01/23/1990); a map of Missouri with handwritten text regarding numbers of UMC alumni and current UMC students from each county (1964); and original artwork for UMC football programs by Amadee Wohlschlaeger "Amadee," sports cartoonist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Also included in this Series are student recruiting films produced by or in conjunction with the MU Alumni Association: "Untitled" (ca. 1948-1951); A Day in the Life of Old Mizzou (09/09/1975); Mizzou 85 (02/19/1986); MU: The Film (ca. 1988); and Their Mission is Learning" (ca. 1970-1972).

Included in this Series are Class Reunion programs prepared for reunions of MU Graduates, the Alumni Association Districts Eight and Fourteen Alumni Chapter files (1920-1950), film and audio-visual slide show versions of a promotional presentation entitled Capture the Spirit 1993.

This Series contains five VHS video cassette tapes, three presentation scripts, and one campaign button, produced by the University of Missouri Alumni Association as part of their "'B' For Missouri's Future" campaign supporting the higher education enhancement ballot initiative known as "Proposition B" (1991).
Note to Researcher: Three of the longer VHS tape segments have been transferred to Digital Video and DVD formats.

This Series contains images of the Old Academic Hall and Jesse Hall in several formats. Included in this Series are an engraving of Old Academic Hall by William W. Rose (1842), a photograph of Academic Hall with east wing and west wing additions (1885), a Xerox copy of a pre-1883 photograph of Academic Hall, photographs of views of Academic Hall, the columns and the Quadrangle (ca. 1904-1905), a photograph of Jesse Hall, showing Charles H. Taylor painting "Farmers" on the old power plant smokestack, a postcard depicting the Old Academic Hall Columns (1915), and a photograph of the old Academic Hall Columns (1935).

This Series contains three panoramic photographs of scenes on the University of Missouri campus, (ca. 1914). A photo taken from south of Jesse Hall offers a view of (from left to right) the old Law Barn, Pickard Hall, Swallow Hall, Jesse Hall and the Columns, Engineering East, and Switzler Hall. A shot of White Campus looks North on Stewart Hall, Waters Hall, Lefevre Hall, and Whitten Hall. The class of 1914 is photographed from the north, standing in front of the Columns.

Please follow this link to reach the inventory. This former Series is comprised of black and white as well as color photographs and negatives depicting exterior views of most White (East) and Red (West) Campus buildings and attributed to photographer James Alford, (1960).

Series 18 - C:0/47/17 (A01-113)
This Series contains two framed, black and white, panoramic photographs of scenes on the University of Missouri campus (1910). One image is of the graduating class of 1910 posed on Francis Quadrangle and the other is a view of Francis Quadrangle taken from the south end. These photograph were donated by Dorothy Cline in the names of Lottie C. Walther Stammerjohn AB, BS Ed 1910, Dorothy Stammerjohn Cline GN 1937, BS Ed 1939, and Lambert W. Stammerjohn, BS EE 1939, MS EE 1940. Lottie Stammerjohn is included in the class of 1910 photograph.

Series 19 - C:0/3/4 (A75-12)
This Series contains one film of campus interviews with MU students (1972). The Alumni Association sponsored the film, and the School of Journalism made it. The film exists on one 16 mm reel, 10.5" in diameter.

Series 20 - C:0/47/19 (A03-77)
This Series contains photographs and wallpaper samples relating to the 1985 renovation of the Conley House by the architect James T. Darrough, (ca. 1985). The majority of the photographs in this Series are color prints of architectural details, both interior and exterior, taken prior to the renovation of the Conley House. A few photographs depict other unidentified Italianate buildings. Also included in the Series are twelve mounted samples of wallpaper taken from the Conley House. The materials in this Series were received indirectly from the daughter of Darrough.

Series 21 - C:0/3/1 (A05-78)
This Series contains miscellaneous records of the Alumni Association (1995-2002), including photographs of alumni events and various printed and duplicated materials such as newsletters and Annual Reports for 1997-98 and 2002. The collection also includes twelve VHS video tapes related to Homecoming and promotional events, including footage of Elizabeth Dole speaking at the opening of the 2000 University/Red Cross Blood Drive. Also included is a CD-ROM entitled "Tiger Plaza Virtual Tour" as well as materials related to the 1997 awarding of the Theodore M. Hesburgh Award to the University of Missouri-Columbia.

This Series contains a photograph of Memorial Stadium at the University of Missouri, (ca. 1931). The photograph is of the north end of the stadium and includes the white-washed "M".

Note to Researcher: This photograph was taken by Lee Nelson during a visit to Columbia by his high school's Future Farmers of America Chapter. The photograph was donated by Nelson's granddaughter, Robin Greger in 2011.

Series 24. - C:0/47/21 (A12-68)
This Series contains two photographs of athletic team captains, (1912-1913, 1914-1915), at the University of Missouri. The photographs are mounted and have captions. The captains are for the following sports: football, basketball, track, baseball, and cross country.

Note to Archivist: These two photographs were originally donated to the Alumni Association by Russell Stokes, Jr. They were sent to University Archives by the State Historical Society of Missouri in 2012.

Series 25. - C:0/47/22 (A13-89)
This Series contains a photographic print (panoramic) of the University of Missouri senior class of 1923. The photograph is taken facing north across the Quadrangle towards the Columns. The photographer is noted as J. F. Barham of Columbia, Missouri.

Series 26. - C:0/47/27
This Series contains photographs of the exterior of Loeb Hall, London Hall, Noyes Hall, Read Hall, and the Student Health Building before their demolition, (2022). Also included in Series 26 is a photograph of the London Hall site after the completed demolition.

Series 27. - C:0/47/28 (A22-52)
This Series contains photographs of Read Hall before its demolition, (2022). The photographs are of both the exterior and interior of the building, with the majority of images showing interior architectural details and furnishings.

Series 28. - C:0/47/29 (A22-53)
This Series contains photographs of two murals from the University of Missouri building at 1110 South College Avenue, (2010). The murals, by Pamela Lenck and Rogelio Tijerina, were painted in 1979.
Note to Researcher: The photographs were taken by Missouri Department of Conservation photographer Cliff White in March of 2010. The building at 1110 South College Avenue was razed in 2022.
