This Record Sub-Group contains materials concerning individuals who have given speeches at University of Missouri-Columbia Commencements, (1939-1959, 1977, 1985-1986). Included in this Series are correspondence, a tape recording, newspaper clippings, telegrams, event programs, speech texts, biographical sketches, and photographs of speakers. Speakers include James C. Olson, Harry Truman, General Omar N. Bradley, Howard Rusk, and Maxwell Taylor, among others. There is an additional file for Harry Truman, which contains letters opposing his honorary degree and his receipt of a Phi Beta Kappa key.

Note to Researcher: This Sub-Group does not contain information concerning those who gave speeches at MU Commencements from 1960 to 1976 and from 1978-1984.
