Many of the materials in this Sub-Group are intended to persuade government officials of the importance and value of the University. Included in this documentation is financial justification for the University of Missouri-Columbia as well as comparisons with other Midwestern universities. Series Descriptions: Series 1. - C:0/1/1 (May 1975; Special Collections Vertical File) This Series contains pamphlets, notices, correspondence and programs relating to the University of Missouri-Columbia's relationship with the Missouri Legislature and Governor (1890-1909, 2006). Included in this Series are letters from the Board of Visitors and Richard H. Jesse to the Governor and letters from the Executive Board and Richard H. Jesse to the Legislature. Many of the materials are intended to persuade government officials of the importance and value of the University. Programs for legislative visits to campus are also part of this Series. This Series also contains a copy of House Bill No. 1003 (Higher Education Appropriations) signed by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt as well as a souvenir pen from the Governor, (2006).
