Scope and Content Note

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:0/49/4 (A86-54; A21-51)
This Series contains copies of the University of Missouri Studies: A Quarterly of Research, (1926-1980). The chief function of the publication was to publish the results of original research by faculty members and graduate students that were not included in the general bulletin series. A Board of Editors, with the aid of the Dean of the Graduate Faculty, selected the material to be published. The Director of University Publications was in charge of printing, which in the early years, was usually done at Stephens Publishing Company. Until Volume XXVI, No. 4 in 1954, there were four issues intended to be produced per year, each usually dealing with a different topic - however, based on circumstantial evidence of collected volumes, Volume XXIII seems to consist of only No. 1 and Volume XXIV of only Nos. 1-3. Beginning with Volume XXVII in 1955, each volume of the Studies consisted of a single issue. There were no publications in 1958. The last volume in the series was LXIX in 1980.
(6 c.f., 115242, 115243, 115244, UMLD1, 027412, 027414)
Note to Researcher: Beginning in 1959, the University of Missouri Studies publications were also identified as University of Missouri Press publications. After 1980, the University of Missouri Studies, series ceased and was subsumed by University Press publications. For a collection of University Press Books, see
Record Group 4 UW, Sub-Group 72, Series 1. For a list of books published by the University Press, see Record Group 4 UW, Sub-Group 72, Series 2. For University Press Catalogs, see UW:5/3/3.
